Possessed?
Are writers, musicians, actors etc. Possessed by spirits or paranormal entities when they work on their craft? Sounds like a conspiracy, but it appears to be more factual the more you look at it.
Halloween is among us and creepy things tend to happen around this time. A subject of interest I run across from time to time is possession of artists by "demons" and other entities.
Some claim that musicians are possessed by demons when they create their work. If you do a search on Google, and even on YouTube, you'll find some interesting mini documentaries on the subject--some questionable, some intriguing with the info they provide. I thought it might be fitting to take a closer look at this subject--being so close to Halloween and all.
The videos and articles I've read talk about musicians who are possessed by an entity that works through their human form and creates the song, or story/content of the song. Sometimes it even transforms the musician into another persona. Sounds like bull at first, but when you see or read some of the stories of artists like Brittany Spears and Nicki Minaj, who have interviews where they admit to changing into different characters, or in Brittany's case during an interview with Barbara Walters where she goes into an episode appearing to acknowledge someone to her side, you will see what I mean. Very interesting stuff. Doesn't mean it's true, but very interesting indeed. Of course, come to your own conclusions.
Now, let's apply this to writers, and how a lot of them, when asked where they get their ideas, say things like "I don’t know, the story just sort of wrote itself." Some say they put the characters in the story and let them do their own thing, and they have a life of their own. Some claim they don't even know where they get their ideas.
I came across a Christian site while searching about this where many musicians are quoted admitting they were possessed by demons and spirits at various points in their careers. Some did séances. Some say spirits gave them the ideas to write their music. One musician, Carlos Santana, according to Rolling Stone, supposedly sat with a pad at his side, candles lit, facing a wall until his spirit "Metatron" gave him his musical content, "It's kind of like a fax machine," he said.
They may just be talking with tongue-in-cheek, but put it all together and it makes for an interesting read.
You can read that here: http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evils%20in%20America/Rock-n-Roll/rock_curse.htm
Of course, in the end, it is up to you to decide what you believe. I like watching programs on UFO, serves as a muse, same with a really good conspiracy theory--if really solid facts are there, though. But you must always look from every angle and keep your mind open. You may get a good story while you're at it.
Keep writing.
