The Pen in the Stone

Midweek. We’re almost there. I’ve been seeing a lot of conversation about what pen is being used to write with.
You don’t have to be a writer of fiction to enjoy a great pen. Some love colors, some just a fine point. Some are for artists who draw comics or graphic novel.

Personally, I love a fine point. The artists pens, the ones used for comic book drawing, come to mind.

Michael’s sells these. .3 was so good. The only thing is you really can’t press too hard or else you'll end up ruining the pen. Plus there is a bit of fatigue because it rubs on the paper a bit.

Right now my pen of choice is the Pilot G-TEC-C4. Supposedly I think it comes from Japan. I can only get it on Amazon. Not too expensive.

I write so much that I need to take breaks every 30 seconds because my hand starts to cramp.

My mind doesn’t like this slow down at times, and I’m in a situation where I’m torturing myself by pushing along.

And typing is appealing, don’t get me wrong, I love to type, as well. But writing brings you closer to the words.

A fellow writer, David Wilson, also gave me an exercise where I rewrote a short story slowly in longhand. You really see your mistakes. A wonderful exercise. But a painful one, as well.

Is there a better pen than my Pilot? Perhaps. I really like the lines thin, though.

What pen do you use? Ballpoint? Gel ink? Fountain pen? And why?

Let me know in the comments below or on Twitter  @WCMarchese.

Hope to see you there.

As I said on Twitter, it's color for me. I've tried quills before, but I prefer gell pens or ballpoint.
