Toying With Ideas and Getting The Monster Going

Been toying around with the idea of throwing a free story on my site. I believe Blogger gives four extra pages to play with. Have to see.

Things have been very busy, with work taking up the biggest portion of my time. Working on finishing up a review and reworking two short stories. During all of that have had some family issues to deal with, along with doubting myself and then coming back strong (usually by the next morning I'm good again and ready to go.)

One thing that makes your head spin is all the little rules and theme, POV etc. you miss if you don't pay attention. Someone points it out and you're like "Oh, man. Should know better." At some point everything blends into itself and you feel as though you're floating around in some sort of life-giving primordial ooze, picking things at random with your finger on the pulse of the beast.

And just when you're about to get it, really GET IT, well, that's when life says, "Hey there fella, got some shit for you to do." And you're drawn back into the Matrix.

The job is the worse, and I know some might say, "Well, aren't you supposed to be doing your job?" Well, yes. But most of the time others are shopping or wasting their time on websites about pop stars, or who's wearing what dress. I'm doing real shit!

If not writing, I check out news articles. Of course, my job gets done, and I'm pretty sure I'm decent at it, or else I wouldn't have been there for almost eleven years.

I make time, here and there, carry my Kindle around with me everywhere I go, read a few pages on the subway, or at lunch, cooking dinner, you get the drift. Edit projects, or get the Social media monster growing. Not easy stuff. On top of all this crap, you have to come up with ideas. New ideas. Not sucky ideas. And yes, they have to be original.

So you have to be, or at least try to be, well read, and then have to have your own style. It can be head spinning. That's why you have to love it, because if you don't, well ...

Until next time, keep writing.
